Principal’s Message May 2014
Dear Parents,
Our mission at Meadowlark Christian School is to be a caring community committed to developing excellence in: Learning through academics, Living in Christ, Leading by serving others and Loving with strength of character. We would be hard pressed to fulfill this mission and vision without the support from many people who willingly share their time and talents with the students, staff and community of Meadowlark Christian School. Upcoming this month there will be opportunities to specifically recognize and celebrate some of the amazing people who provide the outstanding support that MCS School receives.
On Sunday May 11 we celebrate Mother’s Day, an opportunity to acknowledge, what for me, is really difficult to define. I cannot easily put into words a description or definition of what it means to be a mother. The impact that mothers have in each of our lives is profound and constant, whether it is as young children, who rely on their mothers to meet all of their daily needs or as adults, who while at times are less dependent, still can attribute aspects and characteristics of themselves directly resulting from their mother’s impact. There are so many famous quotations I could insert paying tribute all mothers, but the one I have chosen to include is for my mom (she goes on the school website to read these messages) and is attributed to Mark Twain: “My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.”
Tuesday May 27 is the date of this year’s MCS Shines and this year Shines celebrates a very important milestone. Meadowlark Christian School is celebrating 10 years as an Edmonton Public School! As a newcomer to the school this year, I have truly enjoyed learning about the history and journey of Meadowlark Christian School. Many of the successes and the fantastic reputation that this school enjoys is due to the contributions present and past MCS Foundation members have made, ensuring our school is able to teach our students how to live their faith in context of their broader community.
On Thursday May 29, Meadowlark Christian School will celebrate all of our amazing parent and community volunteers at our annual Volunteer Tea. From 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., all of our volunteers from this school year are invited to join us in the school library for refreshments and fellowship. The MCS staff wants to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank you for your contributions supporting the success of the most important members of our community – our students!
What does each of these three events have in common? They celebrate people whose contributions to the Meadowlark Christian community define what our mission is about.
