Principal’s Message December 2014
Dear Parents,
Thank you very much to those of you who participated in this year’s parent/teacher conferences in November. At Meadowlark Christian School, we always welcome the opportunity to meet with you and share your child’s progress with you. Your involvement in the education of your child makes all the difference!
Our annual Christmas Concert is on Thursday, December 11, at West Meadows Baptist Church (9333-199 St. NW), starting at 7:00 p.m. This year’s concert is called: The Secret of Snowflake County – Hope in a Humble Stable. I would like to invite you to “Take a rollicking ride to Snowflake County – a place where Christmas celebrations have become so extravagant, they threaten to overshadow the simplicity of Christmas’ true meaning.” Invite your family and your friends, our MCS students have been participating in many rehearsals over the past few weeks and cannot wait to entertain you at this year’s concert!
In December we see an emphasis on charity and doing good deeds for people in need and our city has many long running programs, such as the Christmas Bureau of Edmonton and Santa’s Anonymous. A part of our mission at MCS is LEADING by serving others.
Throughout the year, our students are challenged to become leaders and good citizens both at school and in their communities and we provide many opportunities for them to do so. Some examples of this servant leadership in action are: raking lawns in our school neighbourhood, regularly visiting Glendale Elementary School and acting as mentors to students, organizing school-wide theme days, spearheading the Operation Christmas Child campaign, taking lead roles in chapels and assemblies, singing Christmas Carols at the Jasper Place Continuing Care Center, helping out at the Hope Mission, sponsoring children through Compassion Canada and our annual grade 9 missions trip. These are just a small sample of the many activities our MCS students are involved in. The experiences and enrichments these activities provide our students will lay the groundwork for lifelong habits of serving to help others and contributing to the overall benefit of our society and world.
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus, I hope that the joy and peace of this special Holy season be with you and your families. God’s blessings for the New Year!
